On The Naughty List

I'm for sure going to be on Santa's "Naughty List" this year. With only 12 days until Christmas, I still haven't done any Christmas cards!

I was in my studio today working on this year's ornament and cards for gifts. I usually make an assortment of 10-15 cards and give them as gifts. People really like them because when they need a card, they don't have to run to the store to get one.

And, I have discovered I hate doing the clean-up after a day of creating. That is the least fun part of the whole day.

Here is a birthday greeting I sent a week or so ago...

I used some of My Mind's Eye paper and cut my shapes from the Cricut Cake Basics cartridge.

I stamped a cake image on some coordinating paper and cut around the image for the inside sentiment:

And, here is another thank you that has a bit of a vintage feel. The paper is a mixture of Webster's Pages, GCD Studios and Studio Calico.

A "Mod"est Thanks

I love the look of greetings that are fancy and sparkly and all sorts of pretty. But, there are times when a clean, mod look is so refreshing.

For this card, I broke out my Cricut. I don't use it daily, but when I need it, it's a great tool to have. Instead of using the actual letters (I used the Street Sign cartridge), I put the negative, or the space that was left after the letters were cut out, to use. This is a great little tip - just remember to keep the insides of your letters - in this card, I had to keep track of the middle of the "a". It's also great because then you can use the actual letters on another card.

The paper is by Studio Calico. I used two different size circle punches to dress up the front of my card and added some stitching. I love using my sewing machine on my cards.

I also used one of the circles to dress up the inside.

I have to get busy on a wedding card - we are going to one tonight!

Birthday Greeting with a Fluttering-By Butterfly

You might be asking, "What is with all the birthday cards?" Well, lately I've had some extra time to create and there is always someone who is having a birthday.

For this card, I used some Girls' Paperie paper and I stamped the butterfly in black Staz-On. The stamp is from one of Nikki Sivils clear stamp collections. I made the middle of the butterfly by rolling up one of the Studio Calico FabRips. I also added an antique button that I purchased at the local flea market a few months back.

It's a beautiful day here today - a forecasted high of about 72 and sunny. I took Cricket and Roscoe for a walk last night and came across the back patio to find ANOTHER baby bird had been pushed from the nest. This is the second round of babies that have been in that nest this summer. I couldn't resist - I put him back up in the secondary nest. Hopefully, he'll make it.

Happy 62, Dad!

Today is my dad's 62nd birthday! We had a low-key celebration last night. My mom and dad are in the middle of a move. The last time they moved was almost 30 years ago! Their closing is on July 9th. So, because basically EVERYTHING is packed, we took some brats over and grilled out.

Here is the card I made for my dad. I used some Studio Calico paper and also cut out the "6" and "2" from a SC graphic sheet. I also used papers from Graphic45 and GCD Studios. And, what masculine card would be complete without a little Tim Holtz black soot ink?

Posting: It's Either Feast or Famine

I have been having a hard time posting on a regular basis...either it's like today where I had a couple of hours to craft and I have lots to post, or I am running around at work like a crazy person and I don't have time to post or personal crafting!

After The 4th, I should be able to get back to my regular posting. It's just been hit or miss lately.

Anyway, here's what I did in the short time I was able to create:

Happy Father's Day to both my dad and my F-I-L. The first one was for my dad and he was trying to read the printing on the arrow. The paper line is one of the newest from Studio Calico mixed in with some older Studio Calico, October Afternoon and Cosmo Cricket. Love those Studio Calico FabRips!

More Studio Calico in this thank you card (are you seeing a theme yet? L-O-V-E them!) The rub-on is theirs - so easy to apply. And more FabRips. It's like fabric that has an adhesive backing that can be torn. So many uses!

Studio Calico, Webster's Pages, and Melissa Frances Booths - More of CHA 2010!

This...is the Studio Calico booth, and yes, it always looked like this. It was busting at the seams every time we passed it by.

That is because they have some awesome products! I was taking a picture of these cute button stamps. Greg and April Foster are the owners and they are the epitome of sweet southern charm.

AND, they have so-talented designers. I was drooling over every layout.




Webster's Pages was very fun. The owner, Brandin, was so down to earth. They had some great pastel lines and a great new product called "Bloomers."
