Glad to Be Home!

It's so nice to come back to the midwest and be greeted by 60-something weather! We had a great time in Naples.
The first day was perfect weather and we hung out by the pool all day. We went to a club called The Blue Martini at night. There was a live band that was playing everything from Cool and the Gang to Black Eyed Peas.
The next two days were not very good for weather. In fact, the last night we were there is was pretty darn chilly. We went to eat at Tommy Bahamas in downtown Naples. The outside heaters were fired up and we ate outside.
Here are just a few snapshots of that night. I highly recommend the Pina Colada cake - it was oh-so-yummy!

And, we spotted this little guy in the retention pond behind my Aunt and Uncle's place...he seemed non-threatening, but I wouldn't be jumping in for a swim!

I have to make a wedding card and a sympathy card today. So, I'll be posting later.
Have a great Wednesday!

Tomorrow, Tomorrow, I Love Ya, Tomorrow...

Yep, tomorrow, I am leaving - again. For Florida. We are going on a spring break vacation. I am officially the perfect shade of self-tan orange and I am ready for some R & R.
Be back on Wednesday!
Have a great weekend!

Yep, it's time

I have to admit, I have enjoyed the fact that it is really still staying dark until about 7-ish. I can sleep in and roll out of bed anywhere between 7 and 7:30. That is, until tomorrow. Ah yes. At 5:15 tomorrow morning, sadly I will be letting the rubber hit the road - or the rubber soles of my running shoes hit the paved surface of the path. Boo! Hiss! That is 2 HOURS earlier than I have been getting up. I have been really trying to cherish it since I hear once kids come into the picture, sleeping in is non-existent.
I guess it was bound to happen. Do you think it's too late for the run to make any improvement on my figure? I'm leaving for Florida next Friday.
CB and I are heading to Naples with my cousin and her husband for a little R&R - spring break style. Granted, it's not the spring break of our 20's - but it will still be great to hang out by the pool and get some sun.
Then, when we come back, I will be entering nutritional hell. I was talked into doing a detox...and I'm regretting it already. No sugar, no caffeine, no bread, no pasta, no alcohol - so really, NO FUN!
I'm hoping it will help with some digestive issues that I have. What do I have to loose? Maybe a few pounds if I get lucky.
And, tonight was my first night back at yoga. I feel relaxed. This is an attempt to manage my work stress.
Hope you are having a good week!
Tomorrow's Friday!

Milestones a-plenty

On Sunday, we hosted breakfast for my mom and dad's 41st anniversary and my brother's 26th birthday. Not really traditional "milestones" - like a 40th anniversary or a 30th birthday, but I consider any birthday or anniversary something to be remembered.

Have a great Tuesday!

Busy as a (Lily) Bee

I've been busy! And posting has gone out the window. I was doing so good.
I applied for a spot on the Lily Bee Design Design Team - but, I didn't make it. I'm okay with that. There was some mad talent from what I can see by who they actually picked to make their squad.
It was fun to submit.
This is the layout that I submitted. After this, I did a lot of research on taking better pictures of your work. It's really frustrating to do a fun and whimsy layout, and then it just doesn't really show well in a photo. And, their products are so nice to work with. They have the best rub-ons.
Oh well! Better luck next time!

Happy Monday!

Off to Florida!

Bright and early tomorrow morning, we will be on a flight to Clearwater, FL. We have a wedding to go to and I'm looking forward to the 60-ish degree weather!
Enjoy the rest of your week and have a great weekend!
We'll be back Sunday - I might have time to post a new project then!

Refurbished Hutch & A Vacuum on the Fritz!

I was hard at work in my crop room this weekend. I was working on a few projects, but before I could work, I had to clean up. I know I'll just make a mess all over again. But, it was to the point where I couldn't move...and it was starting to look like I was soon to be featured on A&E's "Hoarders."
So, I started up the vacuum and luckily, just as I was finishing, the belt broke. Atleast that's what I think happened. I can't say I've ever seen a vacuum smoke like that. Someone burning rubber on a racetrack, yes. A vacuum, no.
Anywho - I moved my grandma's dining hutch into the room and started filling. It used to be brown and I painted it and changed the hardware. Pretty nice - don't look too closely though:

And, among other projects, it was Carson's grandma's birthday. So, I whipped up a quick card. The pictures aren't ideal - but by the time I finished it was dark already. Come on Spring!

Hope you are having a great Monday. I've been working on some other fun stuff. Stay tuned!
